Ira Winderman expressed his concerns, noting that the Heat's current predicament stems from the collective expectation that others should bear the brunt of defensive responsibilities. Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins are renowned for their defensive prowess, while Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo are formidable defensive forces. Yet, there's an underlying sentiment that defense is someone else's concern. Basketball necessitates a cohesive defensive effort, yet the Heat's team defense is in shambles, as if everyone is content to shrug off their defensive duties. The sole exception, Winderman admitted, is Giannis, who averages 30 points per game on offense—a stark contrast to Adebayo's promising training camp performance and the team's strong cultural foundation. However, currently, there's a prevalent tendency to stand by idly, leaving teammates to fend for themselves.
