Ira Winderman expressed his concerns, noting that the Heat's current predicament stems from a collective expectation that others will bear the brunt of defensive responsibilities. Davon Mitchell and Wiggins are renowned for their defensive prowess, while Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo are formidable defensive anchors. Yet, there's an undercurrent that suggests defense is someone else's responsibility. Basketball necessitates a cohesive defensive effort, yet the Heat's team defense has been woefully inadequate, with players seemingly content to delegate the task to others. The only silver lining, according to Winderman, is Giannis Antetokounmpo, who averages 30 points per game on offense—a stark contrast to Adebayo's exceptional training camp performance and the team's strong cultural foundation. However, the current scenario finds players standing by idly, leaving their teammates to fend for themselves.
